The Meissen porcelain manufactory will be celebrating its anniversary with exhibitions, limited jubilee editions and special events.
The history of the railway will be celebrated throughout Germany, with Nuremberg playing a key role as the departure point for Germany’s first rail journey 175 years ago. Events include the exhibition entitled “Die Strecke des Adler” (The Journey of the Eagle) in the Industrial Heritage Museum and an anniversary exhibition in the DB Museum on the subject of railway history. Some of Nuremberg’s better-known cultural events, such as the “Blue Night” museum night (15 May) and the Bard Meeting, a festival of singer-songwriters (30 July to 1 August), will also pick up on the railway history theme in 2010. The Association of German Museum Trains, Tourist Trains and Railway Museums (VDMT) is also pressing “full steam” ahead with its preparations for its opening event at Easter 2010 under the slogan “Steam Specials in Rhineland-Palatinate” (www.vdmt.de).
